Best rooftops in Sydney for spring sipping

With the days getting longer and the nights warmer, it’s time to get back out there, starting with a bev at the best rooftop bars in town. And here are a few our our favourites in Sydney to soak up the sunshine this spring and summer.

Harper Rooftop Bar, Kimpton Margot Sydney, Sydney CBD

For that classic city vibe, Harper Rooftop Bar is a chic, poolside spot right in the heart of the CBD. To make the most of the extra daylight and warmer months, the popular hangout has just extended its hours, making it an easy choice for after-work drinks or a vibey launchpad before a night out on the town.

For drinks specials, Harper’s Golden Hour takes place every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday between 5pm and 7pm, featuring $15 Aperol Spritzes, $16 Sour Gummi Worms cocktails and more.

If you’ve got a canine companion, bring them along on a Sunday and you’ll receive a free glass of Pinot (Noir or Grigio) with the purchase of any meal, as part of the venue’s Puppy and Pinot deal.

The bar is also running a "buy two spritzes, get one free" offer until the end of October, meaning you can order cocktail rounds without breaking the bank.

Rooftop, The Sussex Hotel, Sydney CBD

If you're after something more relaxed, the city’s best-dressed heritage pub, The Sussex Hotel down near Barangaroo tucks a Mediterranean-inspired Rooftop bar away on its top level. Sip cold beers and holiday-style cocktails here among leafy foliage and underneath oversized red-and-white-striped umbrellas.

An oasis in the city among skyscrapers, the Rooftop is the ideal spot for sharing mezze snacks and drinks on a date night at sunset, lolling about in the sunshine mid-week, or sinking a few warmer-weather drinks with work colleagues post shift at the office.

If you’re a spritz lover, it gets even better as the Rooftop is hosting Spring Spritz Tuesday to Saturday, 5pm to 7pm in September, with four different spritzes - Aperol, Amalfi, Rubi and Hugo - available for just $14 each.
