La Madonna launches new $35 French-Italian lunch

With Melbourne’s CBD crowd looking for great-value lunches that sit comfortably within the hour, delivered in an elevated setting, this new $35 lunch menu at French-Italian La Madonna is really going to hit the spot.

La Madonna has just opened up for lunch Tuesday to Friday 12pm-2pm, with a menu drawing on Italian-born, French-trained Executive Chef Jacopo Degli Esposti’s heritage, leaning confidently into traditional flavours while keeping things fresh and light.

With two courses for $35 (entree and main) or three for $45 (entree, main and pasta), choices include: steak frites with sauce poivre; poached and roasted octopus with caponata and gremolata; beef cheek bourguignonne; gnocchi with king prawns and fried sage; and entrees such as stracciatella with basil oil and pickled eggplant.

Desserts like tiramisu and lemon popsicle offer a sweet treat finale, while there’s the option to upgrade with sides like cauliflower gratin.

The menu is designed to be quicker than the dinner service - built around 40-minute reservations to suit office workers and business lunches, in the restaurant’s elegant yet warm dining room with cosy circular banquettes and a cascading five-metre gold mesh chandelier.
