Luke’s Kitchen to woo Valentine’s with rose cocktails and truffle mash
When a chef has been sought to cook for the wedding of Queen Mary and King Frederick of Denmark, you know they understand their way around a romantic table.
This Valentine’s Day, Luke Mangan’s Luke’s Kitchen sets the scene with a refined three-course dinner from 5pm on 14 February, for $135 per person.
The menu begins with light starters like fresh Ulladulla tuna or BBQ-glazed quail, before moving into heartier mains like herb-crusted hapuka with shimeji mushrooms and ginger-umami consommé, or Shimo wagyu flank with truffle mash, silverbeet, and red wine jus. Dessert is unapologetically indulgent, with the choice between chocolate ganache, soft meringue or Pyengana aged cheddar.
For those looking to kick the romance up a notch, there’s The Bachelor’s Rose, a custom-made Valentine’s Day cocktail blending vodka, apple schnapps, strawberry, rose syrup, lemon and egg white, and topped with a strawberry artfully fashioned into a rose, for $20.
Set within the 1930s, heritage-listed Art Deco surrounds of five-star Kimpton Margot Sydney, Luke’s Kitchen glows alongside red marble columns, softly lit interiors and a dining room that feels intimate, moody and perfectly suited to a night for two in the city.
